At-Home Newborn Session with Lark and Family

At-home newborn sessions are so special and real. The newborn days are so fleeting, I totally understand when my clients want me to come to them to document these special first memories in your safe place. At-home newborn sessions require no packing up the family and no props, which is ideal when you have older children at home.

Preparing for your newborn session at home is pretty simple, but here are some tips:

  • Ask someone (partner, parents, older children) to help with a quick tidy. By no means do you need to hire cleaners, but a tidy space that’s aesthetically pleasing helps the focus stay on you and your family in the images.

  • Try to keep your baby awake for a decent stretch of time prior to the shoot so they’re ready to have an hour or so stretch of sleep during the session. With that being said, if they’re having an alert day, fear not! This is all about you and baby and if that’s how they are that day, perfect, let’s document it.

  • Wear something comfortable that you feel good in. You don’t need to completely colour coordinate, but complementary neutral colours and subtle patterns are ideal.

Finally back in the studio!

What a crazy few months it has been because of Covid I was off work for over 3 months! Getting back to the studio felt so good. Back doing what I love!

First newborn back in the studio.

Summer's newborn session

Summer’s newborn session was a photographers dream.

I give all my clients preparation on how to prepare for their session. It includes wardrobe suggestions and how to get your baby ready for their session. Lets just say they nailed it with the outfits! I love soft colors, no logos or prints and keep the focus on the family and baby not the clothes. I also feel like it makes the photos more classic and timeless looking.

Summer was such a perfect newborn, she slept the entire time and let me pose her I wanted! Perfect skin too!

Their session was a newborn mini but still in that 1 hour session we got a gallery full of different images and poses.
